The Scout group uses a number of WhatsApp Groups to plan activities and foster communication.
They fall into the following categories:
Parents are generally added only to the Parent WhatsApp group, with Scouts being added only to the Youth WhatsApp groups.
All Leaders are added to all groups to ensure open communication, 2 up leadership and oversight.
If you are not part of the Parent WhatsApp group, please contact a Leader and they will add you to it.
The Scout Unit Council has developed a WhatsApp Code of Conduct for members in the Youth groups to abide by.
If your Scout does not have a Phone, then the primary contact parent will be added to the Youth WhatsApp groups. Please ensure that you pass on any messages relevant to your Scout to them or else they will miss out on important communications relating to activites.
The Youth WhatsApp groups can get busy when multiple activities are happening. So to remove youself from being a bottle neck, please consider an alternative such as giving your Scout access to WhatApp on their personal computer or tablet without having to provide them with a mobile phone. Steps on how to achieve this is listed below.
