Dear Parents and Carers,

2025 was a vibrant and activity-packed year for our Scouts — and 2026 is already shaping up to be just as exciting!

As your child grows within the Scouting program, a little support from parents can make a big difference — especially for our younger Scouts. To help you better understand how Scouting works and how you can support your child, we host a Parent Information Night once a year.

This relaxed and informative evening is designed to answer all those burning questions, including:

• What is an SIA or an OAS?

• Where do the badges go on the uniform?

• How do I accept or decline an activity permission form?

• What is the Scout Event system?

• How can I best manage the flood of Scouting emails?

• What is Terrain and how do I log in?

• What safety protocols are in place to protect my child during activities?

• Who are the Leaders guiding my Scout?

• How can my child work towards their Australian Scout Award?

We’ll also cover how each Scout section evolves in its approach to activities, and how you can stay involved and supportive throughout your child’s Scouting journey.

If your child is new to Scouts, this session will give you a good understanding of who we are, what activities we do, the benefits to your child and what is expected of parents.

If your child is a Cub who is linking (or about to link) into Scouts, there are some important differences in how the Scout section operates. This session will be especially valuable to help both you and your Cub understand what to expect and how to make the transition smoothly.

This is a great opportunity to:

• Ask questions

• Gain clarity on the program

• Share feedback on how the Scout section is running

• Suggest ideas or improvements
